The Wolseley Figure Skating Club (WFSC) has started another exciting season with the first session starting on Tuesday, Nov. 9th. The club executive has a fresh new start with some positions changing hands this year.

In the past few years our club has been very fortunate to have had Maureen Colclough and Laurie Langlois on the executive. However, at the end of last season they had to say good bye to us as their skaters, Ben Colclough and Larissa Langlois both graduated from Grade 12.  We wish Ben and Larissa all the best!

As for this year's new executive they are Lorrie Ann Harkness -president, Lynda Fortin - vice president, Deb Zaba - treasurer, and Lorrie Perras - secretary. As well, there are a few other parents/volunteers who help out on several little committees like fundraising, updating our FSC bulletin board at the rink, etc.

We have two coaches again this year. Jeanna Irwin has returned to coach the Star Skate program which consists of seven skaters from stage 6 to senior silver levels.

Angie Robison has just received her CFSA Certification to coach at the Can Skate level and will be coaching two different sessions twice a week. The first session is called "First Blades" and consists of seven beginner skaters from ages of two to five. The second session consists of nine skaters ranging from stage 2 to 5.

We plan on carrying on our fundraising traditions like selling Mom's Pantry Products and holding our annual bottle drive in February.    We are selling Poinsettias this year to also raise funds.

Skating sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday each week with the First Blades from 5:30-6:00, CanSkate lessons from 6:15 to 7:00, and Star Skate from 7:00 to 8:30. Throughout the season we plan to have fun theme days during our lessons with the first one being "Bring a Friend" day. This will be held on Tuesday, December 7 and it is just that; each skater gets to bring a friend along on the ice for their lesson. We hope this to be a fun and exciting lesson for all!

The (WFSC) plans to have their annual Carnival on the weekend of February 12. More details will be advertised closer to the date. We also plan on hosting two test days for our Star Skate level; one in January and one at the end of the season in March. Our Star Skaters are very excited this year to take part in some competitions. Skaters are taking part in various competitions which will be held throughout the season in Weyburn, Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw. The first competition is December 3 in Regina. We wish them all Good Luck!

Stay tuned each week as we plan to post a skater of the week throughout the season.

We greatly appreciate the support we receive from the community and especially from the many volunteers- past and present that helps keep our Figure Skating program going in Wolseley.
