Broadview -
Over 411 riders took part in this year ATV Derby just south of Broadview last weekend.
This is 161 more riders than last year and double the amount of riders that took part in 2007.
The course, approximately 30 miles long, was through the Pipestone and was held on Saturday, April 25.
The Broadview Wildlife Federation hosted the derby. It was marked on a red/green basis as the green trail was for beginners or people that didn't want to deal with mud and aggressive terrain. The red was the exact opposite.
It was a very fun and challeging ride through mud and across the river and up and down the hills in the Pipestone. It was a nice day and excellent for a quad derby, said a spokesperson for B.W.F.
The winning hand of $500 went to Jennifer Karlunchuk. Taking second place and $250 was Rob Slykahuis. Third place went to Brent Marshell, $150, and fourth place of $50 to Duncan McGregor. Fifth place of $50 was won by Doug Ward.
The Broadview Wildlife Federation would like to thank all the landowners for the use of their land.
