Kaycie’s Roadhouse is under new management.

Regina resident and recent newcomer Zengwen Li purchased the business and officially took ownership on Tuesday, March 20.

Former owners Candace Rienks and Kathy McGuffin put the Broadview restaurant on the market only months prior to the sale of the highway-side business.

Rienks says she and McGuffin will remain at the restaurant for a brief period to help with the transition.

“We’re going to be here for a bit. We haven’t worked out a date, but a few weeks anyway just to make sure they get everything running the way they need to.”

The ownership of Kaycie’s marks Li’s first business venture though he remains confident in the investment.

“Before I came to Canada I analyzed business and came here (to Broadview) and saw this restaurant as being well-maintained,” Li said through his translator and employee Yao Zhao. “I liked this place and these people.”

Li emigrated from China in August 2011, and currently lives in Regina with his wife and daughter. While the family has considered relocating to Broadview, Li says he hasn’t found the “right” house just yet.

The new owner says Kaycie’s will remain unchanged, and will maintain the same menu, service and operating hours as before.

Rienks encourages the regulars and residents of Broadview to continue with their patronage and to support the new owner.

“I want people to keep coming and do what they’ve always done,” she said Wednesday afternoon. “I wish Li all the luck in the future and hopefully everything works out for him.”
