Broadview Lions Club welcome special guest District Governor Lorne Olver to their meeting.

On Monday, February 9, 2009 Broadview and District Lions Club held their regular meeting with special guest, District Governor Lorne Olver and wife, Lion Donna, in attendance, along with spouses of the Lions members.
All enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Percival Health Care Auxiliary prior to the meeting.
President Lion Bob Gehrke opened the meeting and the business of the club was dealt with prior to the District Governor's address.
Motions were made and passed to donate $100. to Telemiracle in March along with $500. to Yorkton Snowarama (Camp Easter Seal) on Feb. 21.
In the past couple of months, a donation of $2000. was made to the Spence family who lost their home and young daughter in a house fire and to the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles (Cancer Society) for $500.
Lion Lorne Olver, District Governor for District 5CE and who resides at Kipling, Sask., was then introduced by President Lion Bob.
After the District Governor's introductory remarks, he showed a film that depicted how "Lions are Everyday Heroes". Lions members are not only heroes in their own communities but work internationally as well to improve living conditions.
An induction ceremony followed to induct new member Lion Dwight Strandlund (sponsored by Lion Norm Nicholson) into the club and was given a warm welcome.
Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Lion Ray Cope, Lion Bill Singular and Lion Laurie Fafard for their dedication to the club.
Lion Norm Nicholson was presented with the Past President Appeciation Award for 2007-08.
Prior to closure of the meeting, a cheque was presented to the District Governor to be given to a charity or charities of his choice for which he was very appreciative.
