With the farming season getting underway, Grenfell firefighters have been kept busy over the past week.
Deputy Fire Chief Mike Kardash said, "We're always pretty busy in April, just with grass fires and farmers cleaning up their fields and cleaning up their grass."
Firefighters responded to two fires last week on Sakimay, as well as a garage fire in town.
"There was a spark or something that smoldered and caught fire but it was mostly smoke damage," Kardash said.
There was also a fire just east of Grenfell which started at the side of the highway.
"It was windy that day so it was either a cigarette thrown out the window on the highway or sparks off of truck breaks or something that caused that one."
With the snow almost completely gone and the conditions getting dryer, Kardash offered some advise to residents.
"Be careful. Right now there's a lot of dead, dry fuel on the ground, so fire spreads pretty quick."
