Guests from New Mexico, Germany featured at Sakimay Pow Wow

Sakimay First Nation held their annual Pow Wow last weekend, showcasing First Nation culture and bringing together people from all walks of life.

The Sakimay Pow Wow featured a total of eight drum groups and 245 dancers from far and wide including Kirtland, New Mexico and Oklahoma City.

The Pow Wow even featured some guests from Germany, as well as guests from Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Another memorable part of this year’s pow wow was a special ceremony held to honor the Grenfell High Community School students and staff, who helped Sakimay with sandbagging efforts during their flooding emergency.
